Here are the answers to what people ask us most about Pianino, and how to get in touch. If you cannot find what you need, write to us: we reply to everyone.
Write to us
The quickest way to get help is an email to infopianinoapp@gmail.com. We answer as soon as we can, in your language.
So that we can help you straight away, tell us:
- which device you use, and which version of the system
- what you were doing in the app
- what you expected to happen, and what happened instead
The app does not recognise what I play
Pianino listens through the microphone and recognises the notes on the device itself. If it cannot hear you, try this in order:
- Check that you have given it permission to use the microphone, in the system settings.
- Move the device closer to the piano and play firmly: the microphone has to hear you over the backing track.
- Find a quieter spot (television, fan, conversation all get in the way).
- Turn the backing track down in Settings if the app’s own sound is covering yours.
- In Settings you can choose which microphone to use, and adjust the delay if notes are detected late.
- If none of that helps, play on the on-screen keyboard or connect a MIDI keyboard: you do not need the microphone to make progress.
Do I need a piano to use the app?
No. You can play on the keyboard that appears on screen, and take the whole course that way.
If you do have a piano or a keyboard, the app listens as you play, acoustic or electric. And if your keyboard has MIDI, you can connect it by cable: recognition is then exact and noise does not affect it.
Does it work offline?
Yes. The lessons, the songs and the note recognition all live inside the app, so you can play with no internet connection.
Your progress and your data
Pianino has no accounts and no sign-up: your progress, your nickname and your settings are stored only on your device. That also means they do not move to another device by themselves.
You can reset your progress from Settings, and uninstalling the app deletes everything.
What data the app handles, and how to decide about it, is in the privacy policy.
What you need
- iPhone with iOS 15 or later.
- Android 7 or later.
- A microphone or a MIDI keyboard if you want to play a real piano; otherwise the screen is enough.
